New PB for Emma Rose: 19lb 12oz Common

Emma caught her new pb on her first night session on a local club water. He knew he was into a good fish and was ecstatic when the scales showed 41lb 8oz – a new PB!

Terry Bell’s Last Carp Fishing Trip on Godalming Club Water

With very limited time, a baby on the way and a very special syndicate ticket just started, I couldn’t justify keeping my Godalming club ticket, so here I was on my last trip to the water I have grown to love.

Arriving at 6pm and having to leave by 9am wasn’t ideal, but is typical of my fishing recently!

I set both rods up the same with Inline Stonze weights, 4 inch rigs, size 6 Gripz hooks and an 18mm Crave Squab. I made up a method mix using Bloodworm and Maggot Crush groundbait with added Waterfly, Bloodworm and Gammarus Shrimp from the Dried Naturals range and this was moulded around each stone.

The left rod was flicked under- arm out towards the middle of the lake and the right rod was fished down the right margin under the canopy of a tree.

Through the night I had 2 tench and then just on first light I finally hooked a carp (all on the right hand rod).

Terry Bell resized
I only took one photo as I was fairly sure this was the same zip linear stockie that I caught last week at 11lb. When the scales settled on 10lb 12oz I was almost certain it was the same fish again but when I got home and checked it is actually a different fish. (photo quality was poor due to the light levels).

When I arrived at the lake I had a romantic notion that I might catch the big mirror that lives in here and finish on a high, but that’s fishing and you cant choose what picks up your bait!

Cheers
Terry

Dave Devoil and another Grass Carp on Jungle

Dave Devoil, a happy DHP subscriber who opted for our Jungle Bait Bundle, used the bait to great success on a recent carp fishing trip to France: “I have just returned from a hard trip in France, fishing a lake called Saules on the Domaine De Goncourt Complex. I landed the three fish that I caught during the week to this tactic: two Grass Carp weighing in at 40lb and 48lb, and a 50lb 4oz Mirror.”

Terry added, “I am as guilty as anyone for dismissing tench as unwanted captures but on reflection, they are telling me that what I am doing is right.  It’s easy to lose sight of this.”

Andy Walker, co-owner of Echo Pool, France has landed Dougie at a hefty 72lb!!!! Andy, who is having the week of a lifetime, has now landed Dougie weighing in at 72lb on the same winning tactics: a Size 4 barbless Pallatrax wide gape The Hook and braid hooklink, along with his homemade back weight.
Andy added, “Multiworm did the trick this time, it’s looking like there’s nothing to choose between the 2 baits (Pallatrax Crave and Multiworm), if I had to pick one over the other at the moment I couldn’t… And the hookhold was perfect; one of the best I’ve ever seen.
Again, look at the condition of him; there can’t be many 70lb+ carp that look as nice as this – not ones that are fished for week in week out for the best part of 9 months each year.”

Terry Bell with a 15lb 12oz Mirror

Team member, Terry Bell, had an opportunity for an extremely rare 36 hour fishing trip and fancied getting a bit of action so headed straight for a local club water. After a quiet night he was woken by a small tench but no carp. Having seen the reed stems opposite knocking, Terry walked around and lowered his standard stalking rig consisting of an inline Stonze weight with the rubber insert pushed over a small swivel to which I had a 3-4 inch hooklink with a size 8 Gripz hook whipped on KD style and on the hair was a piece of Jungle squab (he caught on Crave last week, so wanted to mix it up a bit). The fish kept drifting in and around the area of the bait but not close enough, until suddenly a lovely looking mirror carp drifted over the bait and the rig did its job perfectly! A stunning mirror carp of 15lb 12oz was held up for the camera and he was happy! Terry also landed two more small tench during the trip.

25lb 2oz The Half Lin

Pallatrax Team Member, Sam Beswick recently visited his local tricky club water, Godalming Angling Society’s Enton lake, for a 24 hour session. There were 10 anglers on the lake, but nothing was showing and nothing had been caught since mid-week. Sam set up away from the others and from the line pressure. On one rod Sam fished 14mm Jungle pop up with a size 6 ‘the Hook’ and on the other an 18mm Jungle boilie tipped off with a smaller pink pop up for added attraction to a size 6 ‘the Hook’ and about 8 inches of Steamlink hooklink. He fished both rods at 110 yards and spombed out about a quarter of a kilo of Jungle boilies over the top of the bottom bait and fished the pop up just off of the baited spot and then put a further 40 or so baits around them with the throwing stick. At about 2 o’clock in the morning he was awoken by a screaming take and landed this lovely old original of 25lb 2oz known as ‘The Half Lin’ for the second time this season. Sam was over the moon, especially as he was the only one to catch that weekend out of about 10 anglers on the lake!

60lb 8oz Mirror – a NEW 60lb for Echo Pool, France

Andy Walker from Echo Pool, France landed G-Spot at 60lb 8oz!! A new 60 for Echo Pool, making at least 7 fish over 60lbs inhabiting the lake.  G-Spot came again on the Multiworm baits and Pallatrax wide gape The Hook. Andy added “..hook hold, like the fish before, was perfect; no movement or damage – something extremely important to us.”

26lb 8oz Echo Mirror

Andy Walker, owner of the prestigious Echo Pool Lake in France, landed his first fish of the season yesterday – this stunning 26lb 8oz Mirror. Andy reported: “I moved over to Fishavan yesterday and got settled in. Woke up to a heavy frost so waited for it to lift before sorting my rods out. Hadn’t even got 3rd rod out when the alarm on the first rod bleeped a couple of times and then screamed off!
Came on a single 18mm Multiworm, Pallatrax wide gape The Hook and one of my steel weights.”

Jacques Tew’s first trip of the season

Pallatrax Junior Team Member Jacques Tew braved the changing wintry weather and braved the elements on his first trip of the season, and decided to head for The Angel of the North fishing complex.
Jacques fished the ever faithful and effective Stonze System: a 15lb Steamlink hooklink tied to a Size 12 The Hook. Jacques made up his Pallatrax Carp Crush Method mix into which he added some Pallatrax pellets, a selection of the Dried Naturals range and a splash of Meat Beast Overspray, and then wrapped around his Stonze fishing weight. Jacques then topped this off with a 10mm Almond Vice Squab pop-up and was rewarded with 2 small carp: 1 of 4lb and one of 7lb, when others struggled to buy a bite.
Well done, Jacques!

Gorgeous Winter Colours

Team Member, Terry Bell managed to winkle a rare day session out on the bank, so went to one of his local club waters and found the carp enjoying the sun, but in a safety sanctuary area that is out of bounds.
Terry set up a running rig using the smallest Swivel Stonze in his armoury, a short 3 inch hooklink with a size 8 GRIPZ hook and half a Crave boilie, and a PVA bag with one crumbled Crave boilie for attraction, flicked it out just shy of the boundary and waited…… After about 20 minutes, the line lifted and he was into this low double with stunning winter colours.

New Pb for Nathan Bridle

Congratulation Nathan on the new PB!

Adam went on to catch four fish all on Jungle 14mm frozen bottom baits, Size 8 ‘The Hook’ with a short steamlink hooklink finished off with a medium Stonze.

Congratulations on the Pb Adam from all at Pallatrax. We’re sure this is only the start of things to come!

Common Carp 22lb 2oz

Mark Rose landed this 22lb 2oz Common Carp, one of two, from the Telegraph swim on a local club water in Somerset in early October on a 48 hour session. The club water is a very hard weedy 25 acre pit with a low stock. The first carp was a 20lb 4oz Common and the second was this 22lb 2oz. Both fish were caught using the ever faithful Jungle (using it snowman style: Jungle Frozen bottom bait with a Jungle pop up) on a size 6 Pallatrax Hook and tied using Steamlink (8 inch) with a medium Stonze – Mark added that this is “a setup that I have used since Pallatrax were based at Pallington Lakes to great effect!”

30lb 2oz Mirror

Dan ‘Danimal’ Carey braved the elements and was rewarded with this 30lb 2oz Mirror from Emperor’s Syndicate Lake, South Devon. Dan was fishing the Stonze System with Gripz size 6 and Crave bottom bait fished amongst a bed of Crave ‘freebies’.

Crave success for Nathan at Stafford Moor Fishery

Nathan Bridle has been in touch following a session on Beatties lake at Stafford Moor Fishery where he managed this 17lb 8oz mirror. Presenting a 14mm Crave boilie with half a 14mm matching pop up, Nathan fished half a rod length off an island margin to tempt his fish.

New PB for Mark Owen with ‘No.8’ at a huge weight of 49lb 2oz

As with my last session at the cracking Emperor Lake syndicate water, I decided to fish on the back of a strong to gale force South-Westerly wind and once again put faith in what has turned out to be the ever reliable Pallatrax Jungle 14mm boillies fished snowmen with a size 6 Pallatrax ‘The Hook,’ presented on a combi rig with a medium size silt coloured Stonze. I fished two rods over a kilo of Jungle freebies, with my left hand rod over approximately 50/60 freebies. I didn’t have to wait long for the first bite, slipping the net under a scale perfect 10lb stockie common.

The rest of the night passed with most of my rods receiving liners, so it looked like my hunch had paid off and knew I was on the fish. At 8am the following morning I received a one toner on my middle rod, instantly knowing this was certainly no stockie as it went on long surging runs. Finally the battle was won, resulting in one of the lakes A-team sulking in my net! Knees and Jelly spring to mind! Luckily I had a couple of anglers in my swim to help with the weighing and photos

The Mirror known as ‘No.8’ not only gave me a new UK PB, but also her best ever weight of 49lb 2oz! Certainly a session to remember; however, it wasn’t over yet as around 90 minutes later my Left hand rod was away. Following yet another arm wrestling fight, I once again had another large mirror resting in my landing net. This fish tipped the scales at 38lb 9oz. In less than 2 hours I had landed an 87lb 11oz brace of mirrors – definitely a weekend to remember!

Short session success for Xzenon with this cracking 22lb common on the Jungle

This 22lb Common was one of three 20lb+ fish caught on a 12hr quick overnight session for Xzenon from his local northern venue, Newbridge lakes. The winning tactics included presenting a Jungle pop up alongside our award winning Stonze weights to tempt his fish.

Mark Owen target achieved with ‘Birthmark’ at 42lb

Over the last few years, this fish has been teasing me!! I have on a number of occasions been present when she has graced the bank, recalling at least four times photographing this fish for other anglers. With my session on Emperor lakes syndicate drawing to a close, it seemed she had evaded capture once again! But at 3.30am on Sunday, my middle rod gave a couple of bleeps before it screamed into life. After an epic battle I was soon peering down at a large mirror sulking in my landing net.

It wasn’t until I had the fish in the cradle that I realised my target fish of the last 4 years was staring back at me. After giving out a couple of whoop whoops; I hoisted her up to the scales where they settled on a very pleasing 42lb!

The fish fell to a Pallatrax Jungle snowman, fished with a size 6 ‘The Hook‘, 15lb Pallatrax braid with stiff mono to create a combi rig, in conjunction with a medium silt coloured Stonze. This in turn was fished over a kilo of Jungle 14mm boilies

Gary Baker has just returned from a very successful trip to a private 9 acre water in southern France holding approximately 100 carp. In very difficult conditions, he still managed to land 15 carp, this 57lb 8oz Mirror being the biggest – and a new PB for the lake!! Read the full story by viewing his blog.

Andy Walker, owner of Echo Pool, the renowned French Carp fishery, has kindly sent through some cracking pictures of some of the fisheries’ beautiful bigger carp that he has recently caught on our Naturals Freezer Bait: Multiworm, with the biggest of these incredible specimens weighing in at an amazing 68lb 1oz! Well done Andy and thanks for the report and pictures!

30lb 1oz syndicate mirror for team member Mark Owen

After being soaked and battered by the gale force winds at Emperor Syndicate Lake , Mark was rewarded with this cracking, and suspected original, mirror weighing 30lb 1oz. The fish fell to a Jungle snowman presented over a kilo of 14mm Jungle Boilies. Mark’s terminal tackle consisted of a Size 6 ‘The Hook‘ fished in conjunction with a medium silt coloured Stonze.

Continued overnight success for James Wenglorz – 25lb 12oz

My second overnight session was a carbon copy of the first; rods sorted and a bottle of red wine whilst we put the world to rights. This time it was around 8:30pm when my left hand rod registered a few bleeps and pulled up tight. I struck into the fish straight away and after a great battle, which saw me having to don the waders, I landed another of the lakes larger residents in the shape of ‘Mike’s fish’ at 25lb 12oz. This particular fish had eluded me for the past 4 years, however this season she must of felt sorry for me as this was a repeat capture from earlier in the summer and once again fell to the combination of Multiworm and Crave baits.

After a few photos and getting the rod back out we called it an early night as tiredness was kicking in. At around 2am I was woken with a one toner, resulting in a cracking 18lb mirror which was to e the last of the action for this trip. The rigs for these sessions were a combination of 15lb Steamlink to a size 6 ‘The Hook‘, to which I always add a couple of blobs of the superbly sticky rig putty and finished off with a medium swivel silt Stonze.

Work overnight success for James Wenglorz – 25lb 14oz

Having not fished since early August due to a hectic work schedule, I was dying to get the rods out. I had relatively easy workload coming up so I got hold of a good friend Stuart to see if he was interested in a catching up for a couple of nights on our syndicate water – which he accepted. Unfortunately I still had work booked in for the daytime but I managed to leave early on both days in order to get things sorted well before dark came. We plotted up in a double swim that has been kind to me this season and set about getting the rods sorted out for the night.

Hookbaits were the same as I have been using for most of this season, a combination of an 18mm Multiworm tipped with a 14mm Crave or Multi-crave as I call it. Both were boilie bottom baits straight out of the freezer and I scattered around forty mixed baits over each rod and sat back to relax with Stuart over a bottle or two of nice red wine. At around 9pm the left hand rod melted off and after a very strong battle I landed one of the lakes big fish, a fish known as the Imposter leather which weighed in at a new top weight of 25lb 14oz. A lovely welcome back to the lake.

New Pb for team member Graham

Team Member Graham Alderson has been in touch to report this gorgeous Yorkshire linear and a new Pb of 20lb 3oz. Graham’s winning tactics included presenting a Hidra Brown Snail which he re-hydrated the night before in boiling water with a tablespoon of Crave glug, in the margins on a size 10 Gripz hook under a waggler.

Gary, Alex and Dwayne Green’s Trip to Lower Tamar

Team members Gary, Alex and Dwayne recently visited the South West Lakes Trust Lower Tamar, helping themselves to some good sport in appalling conditions throughout their week stay. Fishing off the back of a strong, cold North Westerly wind, each picked slightly different spots ranging from a shallow 3ft bay, 5ft open water spots along with a deeper area dropping to around 8ft.

Within 24hrs Gary had his first fish from the shallows which was a stunning mirror caught on the Stonze system wrapped in Bloodworm and Maggot crush method mix, along with a 14mm Multiworm boilie wrapped in the matching paste. Alex was the next to catch from the deeper area when he put the net under a small common fishing the same system, but with a Jungle hookbait over a bed of ‘Crungle’.

Following a change in weather with torrential rain along with a big temperature drop, the carp seemed to switch off but bring some cracking Bream on the feed which saw the team land fish to over 8lb. Dwayne made a couple small changes to his presentation and was rewarded with four carp in 24hrs and a brace of 8lb+ Bream on Multiworm.

All in all a very enjoyable session for the team at this stunning venue.

25lb 13oz Multiworm lover

Chris Shute landed this cracking 25lb 13oz mirror whilst fishing his Somerset syndicate. Chris arrived for a short four hour session, ending up landing the fish within ten minutes of placing the rig against reeds. He presented three pieces of chopped 18mm Multiworm Squabs wrapped in matching paste, a small mesh stocking of crumbed baits to a size 6 Gripz hook along with a small running inline silt Stonze weight to tempt the fish.

22lb 4oz Mirror

Pallatrax’s Simon Pomeroy managed to sneak this absolute stunner at out of the beautiful Emperor Lakes Fishery Syndicate water this weekend. 22lb 4oz, this heavily plated mirror fell to the ever consistent Jungle. Successful tactics once again – the Stonze System: 1.5oz in-line Stonze (running), 15lb Braid hooklink, Size 6 GRIPZ hook, Stonze wrapped in Bloodworm and Maggot Crush. Simple, yet so very effective!

This stunning Common weighed in at 19lb

Our very own Simon Pomeroy managed a bit of a disjointed short session at the impressive Broadlands Lake, Hampshire and landed three carp and a bream. This stunning Common weighed in at 19lb falling for the ever consistent Multiworm Squabs wrapped in corresponding fresh paste. Pom was fishing the Stonze System and size 6 GRIPZ Hook. The other carp, caught on the same tactics, weighed in at 22lb and 9lb.

A cracking 24lb 4oz Mirror

Chris Shute with a cracking 24lb 4oz Mirror caught from a Somerset syndicate water. Chris was fishing a Size 6 barbed ‘The Hook’, 15lb Steamlink hooklink and two 14mm Pallatrax Crave Squabs wrapped in Jungle paste (Crungle strikes again!) that had some Waterfly mixed in. The rod was flicked into position with a small in-line silt Stonze and finished off with a small mesh stocking of 10mm Crave Squabs nicked onto the hook.
